It is perfectly fine to have your home sealed in the spring, summer, winter or fall, we have been sealing homes successfully in Arizona for over 30 years with no issues regarding time of the year to seal a home.
There is some mis information about sealing the exterior of your home in the warm months due to expanding of the wood and applying some type of sealant to the exterior of your home. There is also information out there about your home has to be able to breathe, homes do not need to breathe the attic of your home needs ventilation and that is made possible by putting screening in various areas at the roofline.
Residential homes and commercial buildings are being built in Arizona daily throughout the year and applying different sealants to the exterior of these structures. No builders are stopping this process because it is too hot in the summer time, when you have working in the construction business like I have for my entire adult life this is the business working outside in the heat, working in the heat is difficult for some.
The warmer months is when the activity levels are at their highest for most pests and especially scorpions trying to enter your home. This is when you want to put a stop for possible infestation by sealing at least the exterior of your home and work on killing whatever activity is already inside your home.
There is also information suggesting the exterior of a home cannot be sealed completely, well that is false. Working on an extension ladder to seal upper overhangs on a home or getting on a one- or two-story roof top to screen entry points is very difficult and very dangerous and most companies will not do that. If the upper areas on a home are not being sealed then the home cannot be sealed on the exterior completely that is just another reason to use a licensed contractor to seal your home.
There are areas on the interior of a home that can be sealed to help slow down the activity in a home, vents over beds, exhaust fans over toilets and pipes under sinks. Once a home is built it is impossible to get to all the open areas in a home example: if there is carpet in bedrooms, stairs there will always be a gap between the trim board and carpet. The only way to seal that correctly is pull up the carpet seal the gap and then re-stretch the carpet, not cost effective to any homeowner. Laminate floors should not be caulked between trim board and laminate because the floor needs to be able to float. Caulking outlets or ceiling fans not cost effective to a homeowner especially if the covers are not removed to seal the electrical box behind the covers, you can’t get behind cabinets to seal and the list goes on. Sealing the exterior of your home is the best method to stop any possible infestation in your home, everything comes in the home from the outside.
